Select a client whom you observed or counseled this week. Then, address the following in your Practicum Journal:

This assignment is asking you to reflect on a client you observed or counseled during your practicum this week, and develop a diagnosis for them using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders (DSM-5). Additionally, you are asked to analyze any legal and ethical implications related to counseling this client and support your approach with evidence-based literature.

To complete this assignment, it is recommended that you review the DSM-5, as well as the American Psychiatric Association’s Practice Human Written Academic Papers – Guidelines for the Psychiatric Evaluation of Adults, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s Practice Parameters for the Psychiatric Assessment of Children and Adolescents.

When describing the client, you should provide a brief overview of their background, including any pertinent history or medical information, as well as any prescribed medications, without violating HIPAA regulations.
