\nOnce
\nyou have selected your artist, select two examples of that artist\u2019s work to
\nmake a comparison. You may use one work of art that was featured in the image
\npresentation from this class. Then you must decide on another artwork by the
\nsame artist.\u00a0

\nIn order to make an informed selection, you will need to research the artist you select.
\n\u00b7\u00a0
\nYou will need to consult a minimum of three sources.
\n\u00b7\u00a0
\nSources may be: library books, journal articles, videos, or websites.
\n\u00b7\u00a0
\nCitations must be provided in a \u201cworks cited\u201d section at the end of the
\npaper using MLA style. If you cite an author in the text or paraphrase another
\nwriter\u2019s argument, you must give credit by using parenthetic citation. This
\nkind of abbreviated citation is inserted into the body of the text. It consists
\nof the author\u2019s last name and a page number. Example: (Barrett 168)
\n2. Write
\na 2-5 page essay that compares the
\nworks of art. State the artist\u2019s name and the titles, mediums, dates, and approximate
\ndimensions of the artworks at the beginning of your paper.
\nImportant: include images of both artworks.
\nThe
\npurpose of your comparison is to come to a conclusion about the following:

\nHow the artworks fit the stylistic category (In other words: what makes
\nthese artworks suitable for discussion in terms of formalist, expressionist or
\nrealistic approaches to visual art?

\nHow the artworks do not fit the category (if this seems appropriate)

\nHow the artworks in question are different or alike.
\n\u00b7\u00a0
\nThe significance of this comparison in terms of the development of the
\nartist in question (Does this artist\u2019s late or mid-career work look similar to
\nhis or her earlier work? Has this artist\u2019s style developed consistently or has
\nit changed?)
